Bodegas RODA
Bodegas RODA was born in the late 1980s when the Rotllant Daurella family arrived in La Rioja with the ambition to revolutionize the Spanish wine scene. With a firm philosophy rooted in old vineyards, native grape varieties (Tempranillo, Graciano, and Garnacha), and a meticulous winemaking process, RODA quickly positioned itself as a benchmark in Rioja. The winery is located in Haro, surrounded by a unique blend of Continental, Atlantic, and Mediterranean climates, which greatly influence the character of its wines. Their viticulture is based on sustainability, and harvests are done manually with great precision to ensure optimal ripeness and grape quality.
Innovation is a pillar of Bodegas RODA, with substantial investment in R&D across viticulture, biology, and technology. The winery pioneered techniques such as bioclimatic aging warehouses and the creation of a Tempranillo gene bank. Their wines include SELA, a fresh and accessible expression of Rioja; RODA Reserva, known for its red fruit and gastronomic versatility; RODA I Reserva, a wine of depth, structure, and elegance; CIRSION, the flagship wine with remarkable complexity; and RODA I Blanco, a white wine from historic, poor soils using Viura, Garnacha Blanca, and Malvasía de Rioja. Together, these wines reflect RODA’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and respect for the land.
Bodegas LA HORRA
Bodegas LA HORRA was founded in 2009 as a project by Bodegas RODA, renowned for its legacy in Rioja, with the aim of producing exceptional wines from the Tempranillo variety in Ribera del Duero, specifically in the La Horra area (Burgos). This region was chosen for its continental climate and ideal soils, which contribute to wines with strong aroma, structure, and character. The winery owns 50 hectares of vineyards and collaborates with local winegrowers. Its philosophy centers on avoiding excessive oak, preserving grape freshness, and achieving delicate extraction to enhance tannin finesse, all with a sustainable and environmentally respectful approach.
Its standout wines are CORIMBO and CORIMBO I, both made from 100% Tinta del País grapes, sourced from vines between 25 and over 70 years old, respectively. Bodegas LA HORRA invests heavily in R&D, with projects like BIOGERM and ASTRINO aimed at enhancing biodiversity and wine quality. In 2023, they began constructing a new underground winery, designed by Carme Pinós with sustainability, landscape integration, and energy efficiency in mind. CORIMBO I has received international acclaim, earning the title of best red wine in the world made with Spanish varieties at the 2016 Decanter World Wine Awards.
